Real people. Real help. Right here.
Hands-on help across the Gold Coast — meals, moves, clean-ups, beach cleanups, and whatever the need may be.
Care & Community is City Reach Foundation's ongoing volunteer programme across the Gold Coast. It's the day-to-day work that runs between and around the big seasonal initiatives — meals dropped to someone who's just been discharged from hospital, a couple of hours of help loading a moving truck, a Saturday morning clean-up at a site that needs hands, a beach-care shift with the team.
Everyone's welcome — whoever you are, whatever your story. Whether you're offering help or needing it, this is the door.
There's no shortlist — if a need lands and we can help, we help. But most of the practical work falls into four rhythms.
Cooked meals dropped to a doorstep — after surgery, after a bereavement, after a new baby, or after a hard week. Simple, quiet, no fuss.
A couple of hours, a trailer, and enough hands to shift a household. For someone starting over, escaping a hard situation, or just needing a lift.
Site clean-ups, working bees, deep cleans — before an event, after an event, or when a family or venue needs help resetting a space.
Regular beach cleanups — because the coast is part of the community too. Team of hands, bags, a coffee, and a couple of hours by the water.
Everything above runs on volunteer time. If your need doesn't fit one of these boxes, ask anyway — a lot of what we do doesn't have a category.
Care & Community runs on a small group of ready volunteers, a needs channel, and short call-outs when something specific lands.
Add your name and we'll get you into the Care & Community WhatsApp group. Low-noise — just call-outs when something lands.
A need lands, a call-out goes out — date, time, what's needed, how many hands. If you can, tap in. If you can't, no pressure. Someone else will.
Turn up at the site, meet the team, get the job done. A couple of hours most of the time. Practical, respectful, no fanfare.
Care & Community runs because of volunteers, donors, and partner organisations. Whatever you bring, it lands.

Your gift funds the frontline — food, fuel, cleaning supplies, and the practical infrastructure that keeps hands on the ground.

Start a conversationCare & Community sits alongside our two seasonal initiatives — each with a different rhythm, all part of City Reach's coordinated frontline mission.
A coordinated, community-based pop-up winter shelter response — City Reach as hub coordinator, participating local community buildings as facilitator sites. Runs winter.
Explore the Winter InitiativeCommunity day right before Term 1 — backpacks, stationery, free haircuts, and a warm welcome for kids and families heading into a new school year. Runs January.
Explore Care4KidsNo. You're on the group. When a call-out lands you can say yes or stay out — no obligation, no guilt-trip. Some people help every fortnight; some help twice a year. Both matter.
Yes — and welcome. Use the Get Help page as the front door. Tell us what's going on and we'll come back with what we can offer — whether that's a Care & Community response or a partner agency better placed to help.
For most Care & Community activities, no. If you're doing something specific that needs a Blue Card, food handling, or a licence (like driving a truck), we'll flag it in the call-out and match the right people.
Yes. Group volunteering days are welcome — a team of 6 from your office, a soccer club looking for a Saturday morning of service, whatever the shape. and we'll set something up.
Care & Community is run by City Reach Foundation Ltd — a registered Australian charity based on the Gold Coast. We work alongside a range of local community partners, but the work itself is open to anyone. Everyone is welcome — whoever you are, whatever your story.
